The Italian Woodworking Machinery and Tool Manufacturers Association Acimall released that in 2006 Italian woodworking machinery output value was 1.8 billion euros and exports were 1.5 billion euros. In one year, sales increased by 18%, close to the record set in 2000. It is expected that in 2007, the growth trend will continue.
Italian woodworking machinery's traditional main sales locations (Spain, France, Germany, the United States and Canada) remain the main buyers, while the largest contributors to sales growth are large developing markets, such as Eastern Europe (leading by Russia and Ukraine), Balkan countries , Turkey, Middle East, UAE, and India. South American sales will not grow very fast because of higher import taxes and competition from a large number of local products. The Chinese mainland market is very challenging. The prices of local products are very low and there is competition from Germany, Japan and Taiwan. These competitors have already set up production plants there.
